Our Guiding Light

Principles of the Field Team

Every chapter in our books and every investigation we launch is built upon four core commitments to young readers, parents, and historical truth.

01
Curiosity First
We encourage every young investigator to look closer, ask deep questions, and explore the unknown with an open and analytical mind.
02
Compassion & Kindness
Every spirit we encounter has feelings and memories. We practice respectful storytelling and empathy, guiding restless souls toward peace.
03
Remembrance of History
We honor the real people, architectural wonders, and documented events behind every location, preserving authentic history for the next generation.
04
100% Family-Friendly Promise
No gore, no cheap jump scares, and no nightmarish horror. Our mysteries are genuinely spooky, thrilling, and safe for readers of all ages.
The Clear Ghost Motto
“Every place has a story. Every story deserves to be remembered. No one should ever be forgotten.”

Written into the first page of our investigator logbooks, carried on every expedition from coastal lighthouses to historic mountain valleys.

Field Journal: The Beginning

Our Origin Story

How a shared family love for historic mysteries blossomed into an adventurous world of books and discoveries.

“Every haunted place has a story waiting to be remembered, and every ghost has a reason to stay.”

Clear Ghost Company was founded by author Shalone McCarthy with a singular dream: to share the pure wonder of history, folklore, and storytelling with curious young readers and adventurous families. What began as weekend road trips exploring aged lighthouses, colonial inns, and forgotten train depots grew into a mission to bridge generations through spine-tingling yet family-safe adventures.

Rather than sensationalized horror, our stories center on a brave young investigator and his steadfast spirit hound. Together, they step into real landmark sites to piece together forgotten clues, preserve historical heritage, and help lingering spirits find quiet peace. We believe that curiosity unlocks courage, and that history comes alive when we look past the dust to find the heartbeat beneath.

As an independent family brand, we write, design, and illustrate every chapter book and field kit to inspire kids to explore the world with observant eyes, compassionate hearts, and a respectful appetite for mystery.
